About Stitching In The Pines
Hi! I’m Karen Pruitt. My goal is to create a successful needlepoint business to support rescued animals and others in the community while enjoying stitching with loved ones. I admire the artists' designs and fibers, which will tell my story long after I'm gone.
I reside on a ranch in East Texas, surrounded by pine-covered hills and pastures with rescued animals living their best lives. Raised by a British mother and an Oklahoma born father from the Depression era, I hold deep respect for the United Kingdom, value hard work and achievement, and proudly identify as a Texas A&M Aggie. My sister, Sharon, is my most significant supporter, a fellow stitcher, and an exemplary pearl wearing, ranch hand.
Throughout my life, animals have always played a central role, from learning to ride at age two, to rescuing dogs and horses in need. Join me in supporting them.
As a Board member of our local SPCA, I am committed to leading efforts to rehome abandoned animals who deserve better lives. I firmly believe that with dedication, focus, and clear goals, anything is achievable.
Our family grew up in Houston, Texas but discovered this beautiful property we call home and created a heavenly retreat for hosting friends. The property is situated atop the highest hill, offering expansive views of green fields, pine-covered forests, and pond-filled pastures.
We frequently host British or other foreign visitors, including dignitaries from the British Foreign Service. My father's career in the shipping industry has allowed us to entertain a diverse group of international guests, enriching our understanding of various cultures. Embracing global perspectives has educated us on the beauty and brilliance of cultural diversity. Opening one’s mind to new adventures and ideas can reveal the fascinating nature of the world.
Since the late 1980s, I have pursued a career as a paralegal and subsequently as a Business Developer in the legal technology industry. This profession has allowed me to meet some of the most fascinating individuals possessing brilliant minds and an eagerness to resolve issues. I’ve even connected with many lawyers who love to stitch! Small world!
